Big Moskvoretsky Bridge

Ah, these Moscow traffic jams... the famous Moskvoretsky Bridge is also famous for them, one consolation is sitting in the car, admiring the stunning view of the city. The bridge crosses the Moskva River, connecting the Kremlin with the Bolshaya Ordynka. The bridge received its beautiful name from the Moskvoretskaya Embankment and, in fact, it is the great-great-grandson of its honored ancestors. For a long time there were the oldest city crossings on this place, the first floating bridge appeared in the XV century. The capital construction was abandoned for a long time for security reasons - the city river was a serious obstacle for enemies. Only at the end of the XVIII century, the two banks were connected by a pile wooden structure. In the XIX century, a three-span wooden bridge was built on stone pillars, which soon burned down.

The Moskvoretsky Bridge acquired its modern image in the Stalin era, it was "dressed" in pink marble, was decorated with observation balconies and an elegant stone parapet. The bridge symbolized progress, convenience and power. Moskvoretsky Bridge is depicted in the paintings of famous artists, decorated a 100-ruble bill and has an amazing fact in his biography. In 1987, the pilot Mathias Rust, who took off from Hamburg on a light plane, managed to cross several borders, and, making circles over the bridge, landed safely on it. In February 2015, the bridge became infamous due to the death of politician B. Nemtsov. Now the bridge is often called "Nemtsov Bridge"by the people. Today, tourists are frequent guests of the bridge. Here, above the Moscow River, you can see the receding perspective of the Kremlin walls and towers, admire the St. Basil's Cathedral and survey the river surface carrying pleasure boats.
