Pavilion No. 59

A mini-high-rise or the Kremlin Tower - this was the name of the Grain pavilion at VDNH. The building above fifty meters, crowned with a spire with a star, was built by the famous architect Dmitry Chechulin (the author of the projects of the Beijing hotel and the high-rise on the Kotelnicheskaya Embankment). The exhibition pavilion that we see now was built after the war, it is designed in the best traditions of the capital. Before the war, the pavilion was built to demonstrate the success of first Moscow, and then other regions. Its author was also D. Chechulin. Although there were other regions in the name of the pavilion, but everyone knew that this was the pavilion of Moscow. Against the background of its high reliefs, the heroes of the famous film "The Pig and the Shepherd"walked. In 1954, the building was reconstructed and embellished. It was built using concrete and natural stone, and mirrored glass was used as glazing. It was decorated with the slogan "We will create potato-vegetable and livestock bases around Moscow and other major cities" and, after all, we created them! Various exhibitions dedicated to grain crops were held in the pavilion. And after such a glorious Soviet period, during the years of total trade, a sign "Gold" appeared on the facade of the pavilion, where there was a brisk trade in everything and everything. Now the pavilion has been restored and I would like to hope that it will have an equally bright future!
